Welcome to Temple Sholom of Chicago
A Sacred Community That Embraces, Inspires, and Matters.
EMBRACE
Join us exactly as you are; physically, spiritually, intellectually and emotionally. We recognize the unique worth of each individual in our collective whole.
INSPIRE
By creating relevant Jewish moments using ancient Jewish wisdom, we practice "Torah learning” and “Torah living” to fill our hearts, homes, and workplaces with greater purpose.
MATTER
We grapple with society’s pressing issues, modeling civility in the way we listen across lines of difference as we take stands with moral clarity.

Join Our Community
For over 150 years, Temple Sholom has sought to fulfill its mission to embrace, inspire, and matter. Membership is one of the vital ways that we strengthen the bonds of our congregational community and sustain Temple Sholom for the present generation, as well as those that will follow.
Our congregational community is deeply rooted in Torah, ritual, and Jewish values, and we continue to grow as a Reform synagogue bringing warmth and light to our ancient traditions.
Our clergy, staff, and community look forward to celebrating simchas with you, supporting you in times of need, marking the cycle of the Jewish calendar together, and learning with you and from you.
Wherever you are on your Jewish journey or whoever you may be, we hope you will join us.
A Message From Rabbi Conover
Welcome to Temple Sholom of Chicago. For 155 years, we have been a sacred community that embraces, inspires and matters. In 1867, a few Jewish pioneers forged a new path on the north side of Chicago, supporting one another through the effects of the Civil War and later the Chicago Fire.
At this moment in Temple Sholom’s rich history, we are called to clarify who we are and how we will allow Divine inspiration—a sense of spirituality and sacred responsibility—to rest at the center of our community. READ MORE
