Invisible Differences Workshop
Do you have a college-bound student with Invisible Differences, such as ADHD, learning disabilities, ASD, and/or mental health disorders?
Companies that Care [a 501(c)(3) organization] is launching a workshop series called Navigating College just for you and your child(ren). The workshop addresses how to overcome the unique challenges our children face in college and successfully graduate.
OCT. 27 | Legal Rights
DEC. 19 | Disclosure, Documentation & Disability
Marci will address issues of Disclosure, Documentation and Disability Services. Decisions about what and how to disclose one’s disability affect the type of accommodations and support a student will receive in college.
JAN. 9 | Choosing & Applying to College
This workshop, led by Marci Koblenz, helps students identify what attributes of a college are important to them as a unique learner and how to determine whether a school has the resources and environment they are seeking.
JAN. 30 | Accommodations
This workshop covers the process for seeking accommodations as well as discussing a variety of different accommodations that might be useful.
FEB. 20, MAR. 6 | Self-Advocacy I and II
This part one of two teaches students how to advocate for themselves and introduces them to the various “players” on campus to whom they might need to advocate. Part two takes place on March 6, and provides students with an opportunity to practice describing their “disability” and advocating for support.
