Groups & Clubs

20’s and 30’s Young Adults Group

Meet new people while joining in meaningful Jewish Services and exciting social events. Activities include Sushi Shabbat Services, Canoe Trips, small discussion groups and volunteer opportunities. Sub groups include a Young Couples Club and the Teva Environmental Group.

Adult Education

From Jewish Mysticism to Hebrew Learning to Yoga and with many other classes in-between, Temple Sholom has an outstanding Adult Education program. We meet every Sunday during the school year, some weekday evenings, and mid-week for our Downtown Study Group.

ARZA

Learn about issues taking place in Israel, the Middle East, and Jewish communities around the world. These quarterly meetings offer a wonderful way to stay current regarding the latest Jewish issues. (Membership dues: $36)

Book Club

Love to read and discuss literature? Our morning book club meets on the first Thursday of every month at 11:00 a.m. Our evening book club meets once a month after the traditional work day has ended. Temple Sholom Book Clubs offer interested members an opportunity to read and discuss a broad range of books with Jewish content including histories, novels and politics.

Brotherhood

Become part of a nationwide organization and attend educational seminars, round table discussions and family-friendly sports games, barbecues, and other social activities. (Membership dues: $36)

Caring Committee

Reach out to fellow congregants in their times of need. Bring meals to those who are sick, aid our elderly with errands and visits, and reach beyond our walls through social service projects.

Choir

Love to sing? Join our Shir Shalom volunteer choir. Meet on Sunday mornings (during the school year only) and join Cantor Katzman on the bimah during festivals and Shabbat Services.

Finding Sholom

Are you or your partner interested in converting, addressing issues of intermarriage, discussing the challenges of creating a Jewish home, and/or working through the issue of children with partners of different religious backgrounds? Finding Sholom offers a forum for open discussions that includes guest speakers and clergy.

Families with Young Children Group

Participate in social and learning programs for families with young children (children under 8-years-old).

Mitzvah Corps

Don’t have a lot of time? Put your name on our call list and we will contact you when there is a one-time volunteer opportunity or Temple task that we need help with.

Social Action / Social Justice Group

Tikkun Olam, ‘repairing the world one good deed at a time,’ is a cornerstone of Reform Judaism and an integral part of the on-going activities at Temple Sholom. Volunteer to cook and serve during our Feed the Hungry program; facilitate High Holy Day food drives and year-long clothing drives; take action to impact local and national social policy issues.

Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ)

Become part of a national organization committed to women’s issues and humanitarian causes. Through our local chapter, participate in text study with a feminist twist. Discuss contemporary Judaism and the changing roles of women in our community. (Membership dues: $36)
