Services enable members of Temple Sholom of Chicago to come together in affirmation, renewal and celebration. Services are a traditional and contemporary blend of Hebrew and English, in word and song.

Temple Sholom's pulpit is one of the nation's most distinguished. Over the years Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise, the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, Francis Cardinal George and Mayor Richard M. Daley have been guest speakers.

Shabbat Services are open to all, so we invite you to come and worship with us, meet our clergy, see the Temple, and get to know our members.

Friday Night

Temple Sholom holds Shabbat Services on Friday nights at 6:15 p.m. We invite you to attend a pre-worship wine and cheese reception, beginning at 5:45 p.m., and to stay for the dessert Oneg that follows the Service.

Some special Friday Night Services include our popular Sushi Shabbat for those in their 20’s and 30’s as well as our Friday Night Live Service, featuring a band and music from the Temple Sholom choir.

Saturday Morning

Shabbat mornings are a mixture of study and worship. Our traditional Shabbat morning Services at 10:30 a.m. are led by our Rabbis, Cantor, and, on some Shabbats, those that are becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

Prior to Services, join us at 9:15 a.m. for Torah study with our Rabbis.

Tot Shabbat

Our Tot Shabbat Service is designed for toddlers and preschool age children to celebrate Shabbat with their families. The Service is a joyful experience that includes story-telling, singing, and age-appropriate special projects.

Tot Shabbat is held on the third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. and on occasional Friday nights. Friday night Tot Shabbat Services are followed by a traditional Shabbat dinner. Please call the Temple at 773-525-4707, extension 330, for dates and more information about our Tot Shabbat Friday Nights.

Family Services

Family Services are held once a month on Friday nights and are led by Temple Sholom’s Religious School students. For dates and more information, please call Lisa Rausa at 773-525-4707, extension 343.
