Julie Paradise - Member Spotlight
Julie took a few detours on her path to becoming Jewish but, when she found her way to Temple Sholom in May 2013, she knew she was home. She began attending Shabbat services, volunteered for Monday Meals and eagerly accepted the invitation to join the Welcoming Task Force because she herself had felt so warmly welcomed by the members of the congregation and the clergy.
Recently, Julie undertook the rigorous Introduction to Judaism course, sponsored by the Union for Reform Judaism, held at Temple Sholom and taught by Rabbis Conover, Goldberg and Sandmel. She completed her conversion to Judaism at the Community Mikvah in Wilmette, where she was touched and exhilarated by a profound sense of history, renewal and hope.
Julie spent her Kansas City childhood appearing in regional theatre and had her Actor’s Equity card at age 10! She studied theater at Northwestern University, and eventually channeled her stage training into a consulting business in which she helps clients improve their presentation skills. She has two sons, five grandchildren, two senior citizen dogs and absolutely no plans to retire.
Julie and the Welcoming Task Force team are ready to welcome you the next time you visit!
