Food seems to be one of the most important parts of Jewish tradition and culture. We socialize and celebrate around food, there are many discussions in the Talmud concerning food, and our food connects us to our history. As Reform Jews, we need our own definition of what is proper and fit to eat, because our ethical commitments remain firm, and we understand that Jewish eating has a profoundly ethical and religious dimension.
