Or Chadash 50th Anniversary Celebration

Wednesday, May 13, 2026 26 Iyar 5786

6:30 PM - 8:30 PMIn Person at Temple Sholom

Or Chadash of Temple Sholom is delighted and proud to invite you to a celebration of the 50th year of the founding of Congregation Or Chadash. Please join us as we look back on over 50 years of providing a welcoming, inclusive and accepting Jewish spiritual home for the LGBTQ community and look forward to the next chapters of our story.

Or Chadash has shaped Temple Sholom as a congregation since its merge in 2016, deepening our values of belonging, dignity, and radical welcome, and continues to remind us that Jewish life is strongest when no one is asked to hide who they are. As we celebrate Or Chadash’s 50th anniversary, we honor not only its history, but its enduring impact on Temple Sholom and the future we are building together.

This event will be an evening of socializing, food and tribute to the visionaries who have brought us this far since 1975, including our founders, past and present clergy and lay leaders, and the Reform Movement.

The event is open to all who wish to celebrate and honor our accomplishments.  Attendance is free of charge but we request advance registration in order to properly prepare for the evening.

Make a Gift to Temple Sholom's Be The Flame Campaign

As we look back on Or Chadash's rich 50-year history and legacy in the Chicago Jewish community, we are also called to look ahead to the next 50 years. Temple Sholom has launched the Be The Flame campaign to transform our sacred space and secure our future. To bring this bold vision to life, we invite all members of the Temple Sholom community to support the campaign with meaningful gifts, payable over five years.

If Or Chadash has brought meaning to your life over these years, please consider making a gift to the Be The Flame campaign at an amount that is meaningful to you. Any gift amount makes an impact.

If you would like to make a recurring or multi-year gift, or a gift above $25,000, please contact Stephanie Feldbein, Development Manager, at stephanie@sholomchicago.org.
