After studying a play that had overt Jewish themes, The Merchant of Venice, the class has decided to tackle the Mount Everest of Shakespeare's large volume of work, King Lear. While King Lear has no Jewish characters or conflicts, Jewish ethics are bound to play a part in any discussion, especially after the close reading of Merchant of Venice.
Participants did not have to participate in the Merchant of Venice discussion to join these sessions.
