Join Our Community
For over 150 years, Temple Sholom has sought to fulfill its mission to embrace, inspire, and matter. Membership is one of the vital ways that we strengthen the bonds of our congregational community and sustain Temple Sholom for the present generation, as well as those that will follow.
Our congregational community is deeply rooted in Torah, ritual, and Jewish values, and we continue to grow as a Reform synagogue bringing warmth and light to our ancient traditions.
Our clergy, staff, and community look forward to celebrating simchas with you, supporting you in times of need, marking the cycle of the Jewish calendar together, and learning with you and from you.
Wherever you are on your Jewish journey or whoever you may be, we hope you will join us.
A Message From Rabbi Conover
Welcome to Temple Sholom of Chicago. For 155 years, we have been a sacred community that embraces, inspires and matters. In 1867, a few Jewish pioneers forged a new path on the north side of Chicago, supporting one another through the effects of the Civil War and later the Chicago Fire.
At this moment in Temple Sholom’s rich history, we are called to clarify who we are and how we will allow Divine inspiration—a sense of spirituality and sacred responsibility—to rest at the center of our community. READ MORE

Dr. Oded Adomi Leshem is a Political Psychologist and Senior Researcher at the Psychology of Intergroup Conflict and Reconciliation Lab at the Hebrew University, Israel. Dr. Leshem is the author of numerous publications on hope and despair as political phenomena. He will share insights from his research and reflections on what hope really is—how it shapes political behavior, why it matters in moments of crisis, and how we can cultivate it in ourselves and our societies. From the philosophical to the practical, and against the backdrop of ongoing violence and conflict, Oded invites us to consider whether hope is a destination or a tool—and why, especially now, it may be our most vital resource. -

Join us for a fascinating Sunday Scholars Series session with Dr. Sandra Fox, historian and author of The Jews of Summer: Summer Camp and Jewish Culture in Postwar America. Drawing on rich archival research and oral histories, Dr. Fox explores how Jewish summer camps became laboratories for postwar American Jewish identity—places where generations of young people learned to sing, lead, and imagine new expressions of Jewish life.
