Listen and Discuss at Temple Sholom: Processing our post October 7th World hosted by Temple Sholom & New Israel Fund

Join us in welcoming Israeli and Palestinian representatives from the organization Standing Together, a grassroots movement mobilizing Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel in pursuit of peace, equality, and social and climate justice. We will hear from leaders of the group who have bravely been coming together to remind everyone that: “The future that we want — peace and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, full equality for all citizens, and true social, economic, and environmental justice — is possible. Because where there is struggle, there is hope.”

Featured Speakers:

Rula Daood is the National co-Director of Standing Together and speech pathologist by profession. She is a Palestinian citizen of Israel, born and raised in the Galilee village of Kafr Yasif and began her activism in her home city and later became involved in promoting Jewish-Arab partnership in mixed (Jewish-Arab) cities. Before joining Standing Together, Rula worked as a community organizer, organizing events and protests that drew hundreds of activists.

Itamar Avneri is a social and peace activist and a community organizer. He is an elected city council representative of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and one of the founding members of Standing Together. He is also a well-known activist in the LGBT community and a member of the Israeli Climate Forum. Ph.D. student in History of Science at Bar-Ilan University.

This event is part of our “Learning and Leading in a Time of Pain” speaker and discussion series. In this series, we will hear from Israelis, Palestinians, and our own community members about what is horrible and what is hopeful about this moment.
