Inclusion Matters

At Temple Sholom, we recognize that abilities and personal gifts come in all different forms and attributes. We embrace people fully to bring out those gifts and nurture them within our sacred community.

Inclusion is the opportunity for all to participate together in Jewish life. As part of our effort to be a truly inclusive community which embraces, inspires and matters for all, we have spent several years working with the JUF Synagogue Inclusion Education and Engagement Project to update our space to be more accessible. Our Inclusion Committee meets regularly with a grant-funded consultant from Jewish Child & Family Services, and we are working with congregants to listen to their needs and partnering with outside organizations to provide relevant support groups and educational sessions.

Inclusion at Temple Sholom means...

  • To fully include individuals and their families as members of the congregational community, regardless of ability
  • To allow every individual to participate fully and contribute as part of the congregation
  • To welcome all, regardless of ability, and allow them to contribute and find meaning through participation in all aspects of synagogue life
  • To welcome and offer the supports that each individual requires to fully participate in and contribute to the life of our sacred community
If you would like someone from our Inclusion Team to reach out to you, please include your name and contact info (e-mail and/or phone number).
