Mishpacha Family Education

Family involvement and participation are integral parts of our Beit Sefer Shalom Religious School program. They demonstrate that Jewish commitment and involvement do not begin and end with becoming B’nai Mitzvah, but are lifelong endeavors, and that the family is the cornerstone of Jewish living.

Opportunities for families include:

  • Family Learning Programs: parent-child learning days including field trips to the Community Mikvah, Westlawn Cemetery, the Illinois Holocaust Museum, and various hands-on social justice opportunities
  • Shabbat Mishpacha Friday evening services followed by festive family dinners, crafts, and social justice projects
  • JK-2nd Grade Junior Congregation monthly on Sundays during Religious School
  • Consecration of new students - this year on a Sunday during Religious School
  • Graduation Shabbat, celebrating our Crown Family High School Senior Seminar participants and 8th-12th grade teen Madrichim (teacher assistants)
  • Family holiday celebrations on Sundays, including Chagigat Chanukah and the Purim Carnival
