Maya Henschel's Adamah Social Justice Program

Wednesday, May 1st 6:30p to 8:00pJoin the Jewish Youth Climate Movement at Temple Sholom on 5/1, from 6:30-8pm, to hear from current members and learn how you can get involved! JYCM leadership board member and Springboard Chicago 18 Under 18 honoree Maya Henschel will lead a workshop on Jewish storytelling as a tool for climate action, and a kosher-certified dinner will be provided.

8th Grade JUF Giving Circle

Sunday, May 5th 9:30a to 11:00aJoin JUF Teens for a special giving circle hosted with Anshe Emet and Temple Sholom. This 4-part series will give 8th graders experience in giving back to their community through philanthropy. Through the 4 sessions, teens will work as a group and use Jewish values to award at least $3000 in the form of a grant to a local organization working to aid those impacted by hunger, the housing crisis, or the refugee emergency in Chicago.

Noar Shalom & Chavrei Shalom Junior Youth Groups 

Several times each year we invite students in 3rd-8th grades to gather for fun and socializing (and a little Jewish content) as part of the Temple community. These programs are open to all 3rd-8th graders, whether or not they are enrolled in our Religious School/Beit Sefer ShalomChavrei Shalom refers to students in 3rd-5th grades. Noar Shalom refers to students in 6th-8th grades. Both of these cohorts have individual youth events, as well as combined events throughout the year. 

 

 

 

 


Orr Shalom – High School Youth Group 

Our senior youth group for teens is led by our Orr Shalom High School Youth Executive Board and participates in monthly social action projects, social events, and Temple events. Members of the board help to facilitate the 5th-8th grade retreat, represent our youth at congregational events and committee meetings, and work as Madrichim (teaching assistants) in the Religious School. 

 

Weeknight Kef (fun) Club

3rd-7th graders have the opportunity to socialize or work on homework in our “Kef (fun) Club” with our Youth Engagement Coordinator before  Midweek Hebrew on Wednesdays.  Snacks will be provided each week for all students registered.
