Advocacy 101: Social Justice is Powered by Advocacy

Tuesday, October 5, 2021 29 Tishrei 5782

6:30 PM - 7:30 PMZoom

Do you want to change the world?

The New Year is an ideal time to focus on tikkun olam. And one of the most effective ways to repair the world and advance social justice goals is to remove the conditions that cause injustice and violence to occur. One powerful way to do this is to be an advocate for legislation that makes systematic changes to our laws for the betterment of our society.

How does this happen? How do you change policy and pass just laws? Join the Temple Sholom Social Justice leadership to learn about advocacy. Who is doing it? What is involved? How much time does it take?

Our speaker will be Jackie Baldwin, a Community Organizer with the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) who has wide-ranging social justice and activism experience.  She will tell us how advocacy works and how we can help make real change in our city and state.

Bring your friends and join the powerful circle of people of goodwill who are working together to make a real, lasting difference to our city, our state, our country. It’s an opportunity to use the leverage that Temple Sholom provides to make a meaningful impact on advancing social justice goals in which you believe.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. For questions, please contact Toby Sanders at toby@sholomchicago.org.
