Makom Shabbat

In times like these, connecting with other people -- real, living and breathing people, is more important than ever. This is why we at Temple Sholom's Makom love Shabbat so much.

On the 3rd Friday of each month, the Makom 20s/30s community gathers together for Shabbat dinner, either in person or virtually. We light candles, bless our wine and challah, and share in an ancient ritual that brings us closer to one another.

At Makom Shabbat, we introduce ourselves to others, so we can know each other and be known.

We let go of our week and make space to take a collective breath.

We give ourselves the grace to take a break, and we extend that to our most contemporary "beast of burden," our cell phones, by putting them away for the evening!

We gather together because when we do, we help to build deep and meaningful connections that strengthen ourselves and our communities.

Makom Shabbat takes place at 6:30 PM on the third Friday of (almost) every month, in locations around the city or virtually. All young people in their 20s & 30s who are Jewish, Jewish-adjacent, or Jew-curious are invited to register.

Depending on where we are hosting Makom Shabbat and what we are serving for dinner, the cost for Makom Shabbat ranges from $10 to $36. Always expect a welcoming community, a meaningful ritual experience, a cool location, and amazing food. See below for upcoming Makom Shabbat dates.

Want to attend Makom Shabbat but tight on funds for dinner? Let us know, totally confidentially, in the dinner registration. There should never be a financial barrier to attending Shabbat. We will make sure you are able to join us.
