Pride

We are excited to celebrate Pride once again as a community this summer!

At Temple Sholom, we believe that LGBTQ+ people are not only welcome here, but are essential members of our sacred community, living deeply Jewish and LGBTQ+ lives. We firmly believe in the power of Pride as an opportunity to honor and celebrate the rich diversity within our community, while advocating for the rights of all LGBTQ+ Jews and individuals everywhere. We are proud participants in the Pride movement and remain steadfast in our commitment to building a more just and equitable world for all, year-round.

Here are some of the ways we actively embrace and celebrate Pride at Temple Sholom:

  • Pride Shabbat Service: Each year, we hold a vibrant Pride Shabbat service, thoughtfully led by members of Or Chadash, our LGBTQ+ community group. This inclusive and joyous gathering allows us to come together as a united community, expressing our support, love, and affirmation for individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
  • Chicago Pride Parade: We proudly march in the lively Chicago Pride Parade every year, showing our unwavering solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. As we traverse the streets with exuberance and pride, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our LGBTQ+ congregants, allies, and fellow community members, spreading messages of love, acceptance, and equality.
  • Educational Programs and Resources: Temple Sholom is committed to fostering awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues. Through our diverse range of educational programs and resources, we strive to promote inclusivity, dispel myths, challenge stereotypes, and nurture dialogue surrounding important topics within the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Support and Resources: We offer a compassionate and supportive space for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. Temple Sholom provides resources, guidance, and a caring community that seeks to empower, uplift, and nurture the well-being and personal journeys of LGBTQ+ individuals. We are dedicated to creating a safe and loving environment where everyone can thrive.

Join us as we affirm our belief that LGBTQ+ Pride is a Jewish value!
