Prepare and deliver meals for Feed the Hungry (FTH), a service project to address food insecurity!

Is hunger a cause you are passionate about? If so, Feed the Hungry is an excellent option for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah service project, team building, or other group activity. Learn more about the program below and sign up to participate!

What: Feed the Hungry provides bagged lunches to Chicago’s communities that struggle with food insecurity. Temple Sholom has participated in this program for over 30 years by providing lunches every second and fifth Sunday of the month. Currently, we are supporting Another Chance Assembly Church in the Austin neighborhood.

How: Get involved by signing up to prepare and deliver the bagged lunches! It’s a fun project you can do with your family, friends, team, or group. You will shop for the needed supplies, prepare the lunches in your home, and deliver the lunches to the church on your assigned Sunday morning. You can find the instructions here.

Why: Food insecurity occurs when people can’t access the nutrition they need to live a healthy life. Over 44 million Americans are food insecure, and one in five children in the US don’t know where their next meal will come from. Your work ensures the Austin community we partner with knows they can rely on getting a healthy meal each Sunday.
