Prepare for an unforgettable night of joy, laughter, and community at

Temple Sholom's Barbenheimer Purim Bash 2024!

This year, we're bringing the festivities to the vibrant Robey Hotel in Wicker Park on Saturday, March 23rd, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Embrace the spirit of Purim, a holiday dedicated to merriment, feasting, and the triumph of Jewish perseverance, as we come together to flip our world upside down in the most delightful way.

Whether you choose to dazzle as Barbie, impress as a nuclear physicist, or surprise us with a unique ensemble* (or simply come as your wonderful self), this evening promises to be an unparalleled celebration of our community's spirit and strength.

Schedule

  • 6:30 PM: The bash kicks off at the Robey Hotel with a welcoming mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to toast to our shared joy, accompanied by a selection of heavy appetizers, setting the stage for an evening of festivity and merriment.

  • 7:30 PM: Dive into the heart of Purim with a unique and engaging Purim shpiel, bringing the story of Esther and the triumph of Jewish perseverance to life with a modern twist.

  • 9:00 PM: As the night draws to a close, we bid farewell until next year, leaving with hearts full of joy and memories that will last until we gather again.

Early Bird Pricing Extended until March 20! Only a few spots left!

  • Early Bird Ticket - $36/person**

  • Standard "Late Bird" Ticket - $44/person

Each ticket includes 2 drinks, heavy appetizers, and the best night of your life!

Want to pitch in a little more to help sponsor the cost of someone who may need additional financial support in order to attend? Choose the Pay it Forward Ticket - $54/person! This mitzvah is greatly appreciated!

*Picking a costume is one of the best parts of Purim, but a fun night can turn sour with the wrong choice! Feel uncertain about what is appropriate or not? Not to worry - we're here to help! When choosing your costume, please refrain from:

  • ski masks, rubber masks, or other items that obscure the face

  • costumes with weapons

  • costumes with blood/gore

  • costumes depicting a race, culture, ethnicity, or identity apart from your own

We love this blog article from ReformJudaism.org with more helpful guidelines! When in doubt, it's probably best left at home. Thank you for supporting these values so we can ensure that everyone has the best night possible!

**We charge a fee in order to subsidize the cost of this event, but finances should never be a barrier to participation. If the fee for this event is cost-prohibitive for you, please reach out to Jude Kamler at jude@sholomchicago.org to discuss options. Your presence is important to us, and we will make every effort to make sure you can attend!

Sorry, Registration has ended.
