Elul is a spiritual liftoff - preparing you for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Together, we’ll gather outside at a location in Ravenswood for a picnic and to watch the Yom Kippur episode of Transparent (The Book of Life) and discuss how we prepare for the High Holy Days during this time of year. Then, we'll close with Havdalah. 

Medieval Jewish philosopher Maimonides describes the daily ritual of blowing the shofar during Elul as, “a wake-up call to sleepers, designed to rouse us from our complacency.” What wake-up call do we want to rouse in ourselves? How do we want to reflect on the year as we prepare for a new one? 

Elul is a time for breaking out of the monotonous and stepping out of the daily grind. Join us for this Watch with Makom program + conversation.
