INTIMATE, CREATIVE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN CHICAGO

MAKOM MEANS "PLACE OF CONNECTION" IN HEBREW

Makom creates a place of connection for spiritual seekers, cultural Jews, people who are Jew-ish and/or new to Judaism.

Makom is one of Temple Sholom's community groups (you do not need to be a member to participate, but you can learn more about membership here) and brings together individuals and couples ages 21-39.

HIGH HOLIDAYS WITH MAKOM

CELEBRATE WITH US

Warmth, reflection, starting over, wishing the world a happy birthday, and gathering around great people and food are all themes present at this time of year for Jewish fall holidays, and we would love to celebrate with you!

There are events for *just* Makom people, as well as times for Makom-aged people to join with the entire Temple Sholom community at an accessible rate.

Makom High Holiday Tickets are $80 and include access to all Temple Sholom High Holiday services and events, as well as a very special pre- Yom Kippur, Kol Nidre dinner.

Please get in touch with Rabbi Antman at rabbiantman@sholomchicago.org for any questions about getting involved with Makom or being part of the Makom & Temple Sholom experience at the High Holidays.

PURCHASE HIGH HOLIDAY TICKETS HERE.

Makom High Holiday Tickets include a Pre-Fast Kol Nidre (Yom Kippur) Dinner.

Friday, October 11th - 5:00-7:00pm

Whether you are fasting or not, please join us for a pre-Yom Kippur Fall Harvest feast. We will schmooze, eat, light candles, reflect on the year, and make sure you are hydrated and full of carbs and a little wine (or n/a drink) before walking over to 7:30 PM Kol Nidre services together.

The Makom Fall Harvest Feast is included in your Makom High Holiday ticket, or you can join us just for the dinner for $50 per person. Please register here

MEET RABBI MAX ANTMAN

Rabbi Max Antman serves as the Assistant Rabbi at Temple Sholom. He loves Makom because it allows him to collaborate with people like you to make Judaism accessible, relevant to modern life, and fun.

Rabbi Antman enjoys hiking, baking challah, and playing a good board game with friends.

Connect with Rabbi Antman on zoom or in person at https://www.sholomchicago.org/rabbi-antman.

One of the ways we build, strengthen, and sustain our spiritual community here at Temple Sholom is through membership commitment.

Becoming a member at a synagogue is more than just a financial commitment - it means creating a mutually sustaining relationship with our community, where we can lift up the important work of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (righteous giving), while creating vibrant progressive Jewish life in Chicago.

Makom membership includes:

  • High Holiday Tickets

  • Discounted registration to select Makom events

  • Access to world class speakers and educational opportunities provided by Temple Sholom

  • Supporting and connecting to a loving, sacred, multi-generational Jewish community in Chicago

In support of these values, we are pleased to offer a Makom Individual Membership at a special rate of $36/month for individuals ages 21-35.

If you are interested in Makom membership, please contact Jude Kamler at jude@sholomchicago.org.
